SEASON MONITORING

We program, operate, and maintain the system during the season to ensure it is delivering just the right amount of water required by the landscape, when it needs it. We are experts in irrigation control technology, understand how weather and environmental factors impact the landscape, and are vigilant. Scheduling to operate at peak efficiency satisfies plant needs while  meeting water conservation goals, helps avoid pest infestations and disease, runoff, erosion, and leaching of soil nutrients, all caused by excessive watering.

We regularly inspect the irrigation site. The frequency depends on current and forecast weather conditions, events such as storms, power surges or interruptions, fertilization schedules, and new planting or annuals. The risk of vandals, age and reliability of system equipment, landscaper involvement and communication skills, are also factors.

At each site visit we reprogram the controller as necessary. For each of the separate system zones, the average plant water needs, specific sprinkler and nozzle precipitation rate, soil infiltration rate, and design efficiency will all previously have been calculated.

We do not routinely test all zones of the system in detail at every visit, unless we suspect or have some evidence or report of a problem. Any minor maintenance repairs are done as needed and billed at time and materials.

WINTERIZATION

The irrigation water supply is turned off, for which we may need inside access, and all the system components are purged of water for the winter. A large volume, 185 cfm, of low pressure compressed air is used to very carefully, and progressively, remove the water from all piping and sprinkler heads of the entire irrigation system.

HANGING BASKET AND PLANTER POT DRIP SPECIALISTS

BACKFLOW TESTING AND REPAIR

Potable (safe for drinking) water suppliers, including the RMOW, require the installation of approved control assemblies on all cross connections in a plumbing system. Such safety devices vary in sophistication to match the hazard level of each cross connection. They protect human health by preventing contamination of your drinking water supply by backflow or backsiphonage from your irrigation, heating, hot tub, air conditioning, pool, or fire sprinkler systems that are connected to the same potable water source.

It is required by the RMOW, and prudent, that your devices be tested annually to confirm that they function as intended. We have the necessary currently calibrated instruments, and the required B.C. Water Works Association Certified Active Testers licensed to perform this work in B.C., and complete the mandated RMOW report form.
