Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you book.

01

When should my irrigation system be winterized in Whistler?

Before sustained freezing arrives — typically late September through October. We shut down the water supply and progressively clear the entire system with 185 cfm of high-volume, low-pressure compressed air. Waiting for the first hard freeze risks cracked pipes, valves and backflow assemblies.

02

When does spring startup happen?

Generally May through early June, once freezing overnight temperatures have passed and landscapes begin requiring water. Startup includes activating the water supply, testing the controller and every zone, assessing coverage and completing minor repairs.

03

Do I need annual backflow testing?

If your property has an applicable backflow-prevention assembly, the RMOW Cross Connection Control Program requires annual testing and reporting. Our five Certified Active Testers, supported by four sets of approved, currently calibrated testing equipment, complete the test, any required repair or replacement, and file the documentation on your behalf.

04

What is the difference between monitored and self-operated smart controllers?

The equipment can be identical — the difference is who carries responsibility. Monitored clients delegate seasonal programming, remote supervision and response to available controller alerts to our team; self-operated clients manage their own controller. Available alerts depend on the controller, connectivity and monitoring hardware installed at the property. See our smart controller monitoring page for details.

05

Do you service systems you did not install?

Yes. Our technicians service all major manufacturers, arrive with stocked vehicles, and build digital records for every property we take on.

06

How far in advance should I book startup or winterization?

Whistler's season is short and concentrated. Established seasonal-management clients are scheduled automatically; new clients should contact us several weeks ahead of the season, and earlier for fall winterization.

07

Do you work outside Whistler?

We serve Whistler and Pemberton, including residential, strata, hotel and commercial properties.
